If you are like me, you enjoy learning, staying curious, and challenging yourself. That is why I continue to admire the work being done by Khan Academy. Their mission is ambitious and inspiring: free education for everyone. I was invited some time ago to record a video testimonial for their site, and although I have not had the chance to do it yet, I want to help spread the word here.

All students need is access to a computer and the Internet. Khan Academy has even partnered with the College Board to provide free SAT preparation so that every student has an equal opportunity to study and succeed. You can read more about their partnership here: http://ow.ly/uhbqE. Education should never be limited by someone’s financial situation.

The movement toward open learning has been strengthened by companies like Google and many universities that are making world class courses available to the public. One of the best platforms is Coursera.org, which hosts classes from Yale, USC, UC Irvine, the University of London, and many others. Their mobile apps make it easy to watch lectures, complete coursework, and take exams on the go. The idea that anyone can take a Yale University course for free is an incredible step forward.
