If you use multiple iOS devices, you may have encountered the challenge of transferring apps while keeping your saved game or app data intact. Some apps do not automatically sync progress across devices, which can be frustrating. A good example is My Japanese Coach. If you reinstall it on a new device, it normally forces you to start from lesson one.
Fortunately, there is a way to preserve and transfer your saved data. A tool called iExplorer makes this process simple.
You can download it here:

How to Transfer Saved App Data
- Open iExplorer and connect your device.
This allows you to browse the internal file structure of your iPhone or iPad. - Navigate to the app’s folder.
Look for the folder associated with the app whose data you want to copy. Inside, open the Documents directory. - Locate the save file.
Most apps store their save data as a file ending in.dator a similar extension. - Drag the file to your desktop to make a backup copy.
- Connect your other iOS device and open the same app folder using iExplorer.
- Paste the saved
.datfile into the corresponding Documents folder, replacing the existing file.
Once completed, the app on your second device should load with all your original progress and saved data.
This method works well for many apps and games that do not provide built in cloud backup or syncing. It is an easy way to preserve your progress across multiple devices. Enjoy keeping your data wherever you go.
